Details: There are 35 internship positions available located at over 30 U.S. National Parks, National Park Service (NPS) offices, and other Federal offices. The internships range in length from 10 to 30 weeks. Unless otherwise noted, the hourly pay is $17.00. Travel to the site and housing during the internship are usually the responsibility of the intern but there are several positions that include free or cheap housing and/or travel allowance. Qualifications: We seek academically promising students (3.2+ GPA) with coursework and/or experience (volunteer and/or paid) in the fields of history, museum studies, fine arts, environmental science, archeology/anthropology, historic preservation, library science, and allied fields. Zion Church at the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park in Auburn, NY; preparing Ancestral Puebloan artifacts and human remains for repatriation to tribes at the Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center and Museum in Dolores, CO; performing historical archeology to bring to light the African American experience as part of the logging industry on Long Pine Key, Everglades National Park; identifying and helping to elevate the histories and stories of indigenous people as one part of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States; and much more.
